An Inspired Life

Tomorrow is the second Full Moon this month, a rare occurrence that earns this Full Moon the name Blue Moon (i.e.- "Once in a Blue Moon"....).  The Blue Moon is also known as a Healer's Moon, or my personal favorite---- a Wishing Moon!

BLUE MOON....MAKE A WISH!
The Wishing Moon blesses us with its appearance tomorrow, Friday August 31st.  This Full Moon will be in the astrological sign of Pisces.  During this Blue Moon (and for two weeks afterwards) the energy around your Life Purpose is being called into your Awareness.  If your life path or life purpose in general has felt a little fuzzy, foggy, uninspired or just plain "off", this Blue Moon will get you in touch with your hidden desires and fuel some amazingly inspired ideas.  The power of this Moon is to shine a light on anything that has been holding you back from sharing your Divine gifts with the world.  We are being called to live our lives ON PURPOSE, with intention and a renewed faith in our authentic Life Paths.
Pisces is emotional, healing, flowing, psychic, mysterious, unifying and compassionate.  The Full Moon in Pisces will bring great clarity and relief and "call forth the Universal Muse", according to the Astro Twins.  We will be able to tap into our imagination, which is how God/Spirit moves through us and get our creative juices flowing once again.  As Dr. Wayne Dyer says, "All that now exists was once only imagined."

Take time to write down any insights you receive tomorrow and through the weekend.  Identify what nourishes you.  What is your true passion?  What would you do if money was NO issue?  Take one small action step to set your dreams into fulfillment.

Music and dancing are hugely important for this Blue Full Moon...your prescription during this Full Moon is to get out there and dance your asses off, move your body at Yoga with chanting or just crank up the tunes in your living room.  Stay connected to the Divine Flow by connecting with your body over the next few days.

Remember, you already are ALL that you are seeking to attain.

Simple Tweaks--Huge Transformation!

Feng Shui 101 says that everything starts at the front door or Mouth of Chi for your home.  Even though that is absolutely true, I believe that the bedroom of anyone's home truly holds the key to shifting the energy in their life.  We spend over 1/3 of our day in our bedroom....time that ideally should be spent rejuvenating, reconnecting and resting from our daily grind.
Too often the bedroom becomes a catchall.  The last room on the "design" priority list.  Treadmills and old love letters, TVs and workstations, piles of laundry and mattresses leftover from your last relationship.  More often than not, when I am asked to do a Feng Shui consultation (whether its for a single woman or a marriage in crisis), I already have a good idea what I will find in the home....especially the bedroom.
On a recent consultation for a single woman client who had just moved into her first rental home, the bedroom was a symbolic representation of how she was feeling in her life, but especially her beliefs about herself and a loving relationship (and the lack thereof) .
The first issue that I noticed was the lack of headboard for the bed.  In Feng Shui, headboards create a solid sense of support in your relationship, but also reinforcement in life overall.  A solid headboard symbolizes growth in your career, solid and harmonious relationships and a feeling of a strong foundation in life.  My client's reaction was a total "AHA!" moment.  She is 47 years old and has NEVER had a headboard.  She also has never been in a serious relationship or felt supported in her life's endeavors.
The silky yellow bedding and single pillow were far too "chilly" to invite a cozy, nurturing sleep (or a loving and sexy relationship).  She used a gift card to buy new bedding.  We moved some art around, removed a large mirror and relocated a gorgeous plush rug from her living room.
I'm always amazed how using Feng Shui's simple tweaks can produce such an amazing, drastic transformation:

Candelight, Chardonnay + Creativity

Last night we hosted our second "Dreams Blossom" Workshop...a powerful evening with a gorgeous, fun group of women.  We hosted the class at my dear friend Lizzie's new cottage...on her lush Alice-in-Wonderlandish front lawn.  It was the perfect backdrop to mingle Feng Shui and art.  Add new friends, old friends and we had a bunch of sassy, creative women and wine.

We started our night with a Divine Love meditation to ground and open up to our creative flow.  Next, we brainstormed and did some free writing to focus on their intentions (wishes, prayers, desires).  I loved the supportive, generous vibe of all the women.  We sorted through piles of words, clippings, photos, maps, fabric, etc.  We applied the power of the Bagua (Feng Shui energy map) to really empower each piece.  We added layers of color and dimension and meaning.  Hidden quotes and meaningful memories.

A few of the girls were nervous about the fact that they weren't the "artistic type".  It was beautiful to watch each piece unfold.  Each canvas was as unique and beautiful as the women creating them.  10 completely different Vision Board canvases....chock full of meaning and heart and dreams ready to blossom.  We created and laughed and painted until dark:

My favorite line of the night was from Ashley, "I think I'm going to call this piece "Candlelight Chardonnay".  The wine definitely fueled the creativity!

I am grateful for the gathering of such uplifting and inspiring women.  I can't wait to hear about each vision board and the powerful manifestations they create!  Sending you all powerful, supportive Chi to fuel your dreams.

Home Office Feng Shui Makeover

Happy Monday beautiful people~ it's great to be back blogging.  I had to hit the "pause" button for the last 6 weeks to help my Mama deal with a major surgery and recovery.  She is on the mend and cancer-free (SUCH a blessing!)...so this Mother's Day was especially meaningful.  My heart goes out in gratitude for all of your support and emails.
I have always loved "Before" and "After" photos and segments in magazines, online and of course HGTV makeover shows! It makes my spirit happy to see how far people can come, not only design-wise, but also energetically.  As a Feng Shui consultant, I have the humble job of helping clients to facilitate change, release, transformation, clearing.  I offer guidance on the energy of their belongings, the symbolism of their art, photos, clutter.  I make color recommendations and help with placement.  When I first arrive, clients are often embarrassed and apologetic for the state of their home.....explaining that they've been meaning to (insert project here) or "please don't look in that room".  I explain that we ALL have at least one room, drawer, closet that we try to ignore.  Shut the doors, don't open the drawer.  "That" room is usually the one that correlates to the life issue that they are experiencing, the very reason they have called me in for a Feng Shui rescue!
My own home feels balanced and welcoming.  It represents who we are and where we hope to go together as a family.  The only thorn in my side was our home office.  When we originally built the house my husband needed a home office for his consulting business. The home office became my "embarrassing room".  The design style was a hodge-podge that didn't flow with the rest of our home.  The dark chocolate brown paint color that Hubby chose to be "masculine" was far too dark and Earthy (muddy!).  The enormous oak Executive desk took up most of the room.  The desk was even too big to put in Commanding Position.
BEFORE (UGLY & embarrassing!)

After Ethan got an office outside the home, I snatched "that" room up as my own Feng Shui office.  It has been transformed into my Mom Cave.  My Feng Shui sanctuary.  It is SO much lighter and brighter.  It makes me happy just to sit in here drinking my chai and losing hours on Pinterest.  I feel more inspired, motivated and creative.  With a little dreaming and elbow grease, I created my very own Chi-shifting "Before and After":

AFTER!!!

Wishing you all a beautiful transformation in your life!

Amethysts and Abundance

Hello lovelies!  Thought I'd pop in for a little tidbit, as it's been waaaaaay too long (again!).  I was planning to give you some Spring cleaning tips, but I think I'll save that for the  Spring Equinox tomorrow (March 20th).

One of the life areas that I find most clients (and friends) are working on lately is Abundance.  There are countless Feng Shui cures, both mundane and Woo Woo, and several design features to look for in your home to shift the energy and invite more abundance (money, opportunities, blessings) into your life.  An easy addition, no matter if you live in an apartment, home or houseboat, is  to add an Amethyst geode.  In Feng Shui, Amethyst is symbolic of heightened intuition, the brain (mind), protection against negative forces, removing bad dreams, increasing spirituality and wealth.  The Amethyst is a  powerful Earth Element energy,  and like all gemstones, geodes and natural crystals, is said to be an excellent symbol to ground your deepest desires and bring your wishes to fulfillment.  The purple hue of the Amethyst is a perfect representation of the regal color of the Wealth/Abundance gua in your home.

The deeper the color, the more powerful the stone.  I have two pieces of Amethyst, one is a lighter lilac, and the other is a profoundly deep purple.  The large, gorgeously deep purple amethyst was a gift brought back to me from my friend, Judy (Venus & Vetiver). She found it at the world-renowned Tucson Gem show in January (it is sourced from Uruguay) and it is incredibly powerful.  You can also find small amethyst stones for less than ten dollars, or large geodes, like the ones above.  Choose the best piece of Amethyst that you can find, and imbue it with your wishes.  Amethyst is able to transform and transmute negative energies into positive energy.  It is known as the luck gem, and it can be used as a symbol in your Wealth gua (back left 1/9th of your home or room) or as an anchor in the Love and Relationships area in 2012.

However you choose to place your Amethyst, may it bring you unlimited blessings of Wealth, Love and happiness.

Rabbit, Rabbit!

Rabbit, Rabbit!!  It's good luck to utter these words on the first day of any month. ;).

It's officially March!  I thought I would welcome the glimmer of Spring (it was 60 degrees yesterday) with a cheery bouquet for my desk.

Although, I just heard from Handsome Hubby that it's supposed to snow....hard.  So now these flowers will be my inspiration to be bold, bright and happy.

Wishing good cheer to you!  Tomorrow we'll tacke Spring Cleaning Feng Shui Tips.

Refreshed and Ready to Go!

I just got home from the most amazing girls' weekend in Scottsdale!  It was a spontaneous decision to sneak away with three of my favorite women to celebrate our birthdays...which just happen to be days apart.  It was the first time I have left my kiddos and Handsome Hubby for a non-Feng Shui related trip.  Pure gluttony.  Excessive Laughter.  Sunshine.  Poolside cocktails.  Hilarious shenanigans.   Uninterrupted Girl Time.  I had NO idea how much I needed it until I got there!

It was a reminder of a basic Feng Shui principle:  You must take time to refresh and recharge your own batteries once in a while.  We live in such a fast-paced, plugged in, non-stop demanding life...our Chi (energy) never has a chance to truly disconnect, pause, rejuvenate.  It's like the airplane oxygen mask speech...you must put your own mask on before assisting a child.  Add all the stressors beyond the daily grind and it's easy to feel depleted.

Today is Leap Day, a rare bonus day that only comes around every 4 years.  Leap Day is symbolic of taking a "breather", creating space and time for things that make you happy.   It's like the icing on the cake of February...as we reach toward the sunshiney, Spring-like promises of March. What simple act can you do today to feel inspired and recharged?  A pedicure, funny movie, phone call to your most supportive friend?  A walk in nature or a new perspective of any kind.  You can even clean out that nagging junk drawer to get a jumpstart on Spring cleaning....if you're a neat freak, like me.

For today, all I have to do is remember one of the many hilarious--blow wine out your nose--nearly pee your pants--don't care who is watching--memories from this weekend.  Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.  Batteries recharged!!

SHINE ON!

Just a quick note to help you harness the incredibly powerful astrological energy of this weekend......
(via Pinterest)

Tomorrow offers a planetary trine (*astrology talk for beneficial planets teaming up--or a productive "hook up") of the Sun and Saturn... creating the perfect supportive partnership for setting an intention, creating a winning game plan or manifesting your highest desires.  Saturn is a planet that represents facilitating energy and opportunity.  The teaming up of Saturn and the Sun allows us to think outside the proverbial box.  Get creative.  Expect to feel like your goals are on target and you are absolutely Divinely supported in reaching your goals.  You have countless unseen collaborators ready to make your dreams a reality!
(via Pinterest)
As the energy of the glorious, bright, shining Sun joins forces with Saturn, we only need to pause, focus (visualize, imagine, FEEL) and believe!

You are powerful beyond measure.  Take a few moments tomorrow to sit in wonder and creativity.  Get clear on where you are headed and consciously CREATE the outcome.  Imagine your life overflowing with abundance.  Brimming with joy, love and laughter.   As the Avett Brothers sing, "Decide what to be and GO be it!"

Knock, Knock!

We are going to start our Feng Shui journey together at the front door.  The front door is also called the "mouth of chi" and it is the symbolic threshold for all opportunities to find their way into your home and your life.

(The red door is great!  Although the bike is creating a stumbling block ;))

Think of your front door like the mouth on your face. Your front door allows chi (energy) to nourish you, bringing new opportunities, relationships, social connections, health, abundance and vitality.  Ideally in Feng Shui, we want your front door to be visible from the street (easier for big blessings and boons to find you!).  It is also beneficial to have a solidly shaped front door to ensure safety and privacy and to hold the energy inside your home.

You can further invite positive energy and opportunities into your home by changing the color of your front door.  In China, red is considered the most auspicious (*lucky!) and Yang (powerful) color.  Red is symbolic of attracting opportunities, romance, wealth, happiness and beneficial luck.  It is also considered to be a powerful deterrent that stops negative energy or bad people from entering your home and your life.  But, a red door doesn't work for everyone.  It is best to choose a door color that resonates with your home's design, color palette and your desired intentions.  Some suggested door colors and their meanings:

  • blue or black doors invite career luck, social contacts, wisdom and represent the Water element
  • green doors symbolize new beginnings, growth, health and prosperity, as well as the Wood element
  • yellow front doors invite creativity, joy and friendly/uplifting energy.  Yellow is symbolic of the Earth element and of improved health
  • bright pink or orange doors invite adventure and Fire element
In addition to color, you can beef up your luck by intentionally cleaning and clearing the door and front porch, as well as the pathway to your front door.  Clear any clutter or obstacles (toys, trash, blocking furniture).  Remove any cobwebs.  Fix peeling paint, broken doorbells and squeaky hinges.  Make sure your address is clearly marked.  Buy a new welcome mat.  Make sure the door opens fully to invite unlimited blessings and opportunities to nourish and uplift your home.

Wishing you oceans of good chi and lots of opportunity knocking!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHUI!

Today is my birthday!  I've been spoiled rotten with love and well wishes since the moment I woke up (breakfast in bed made by my kiddos and sweet Hubby), kidnapped by dear friends for pedicures and lunch, received countless kind emails, messages, singing.  I am one blessed girl!!

It's been waaaaay too long since I've written a post...so I thought I would pop in today to say hello and share a happy, fun, relevant Feng Shui cure.

This fabulous Birthday Feng Shui cure is a great gift to bring to friends and loved ones and it's a super powerful way to spend your birthday with intention.  This cure is via the supremely talented Ellen Whitehurst, who ironically shares my birthday!!

  1.  Buy 5 helium balloons, one of each of the following colors:  red, yellow, white, pink and purple
  2.  Tie a tail on each balloon with either nine or eighteen inches of red (a lucky color and length!) ribbon, string, thread or yarn

Include a new black felt-tip marker and the following instructions:

Have the birthday girl or boy write one wish on each balloon that best describes his or her heart's desires.  When the celebrant is finished writing each wish, on a clear, sunny day from an open space (park, backyard), gently release one of the "wish" balloons at a time.  When the baloons have all vanished from sight, then the wishes have entered the stream from which all life flows.

It is promised that before the next birthday either one or possibly all of the wishes will have come true.

Happy wishing!!

The Fragrant Flower Blessing

Hello lovelies!  Today I am going to share an uplifting and beautiful Feng Shui cure called The Fragrant Flower Blessing.  This is a transcendental (mystical, magical) cure used in BTB Feng Shui to bring fresh opportunities and lovely, vibrant chi (energy) into your home and your life.  The Fragrant Flower Method can be used if anyone has been ill in your house (hello cold & flu season, kiddies!), after surgery of any kind, to welcome new paths to abundance or just for an energy "lift" in your space.

Flowers are symbolic of new beginnings and the blooming of countless possibilities.  We want to create the feeling of fresh energy.  You know the palpable feeling of joy that you have when you receive an unexpected bouquet of flowers?  The flowers don't have to be elaborate and expensive to work magic.  You can find gorgeous flowers at your local grocery store that will work beautifully for this cure.

OK...here is how the cure works:
Over a period of 9 days you will place a vase/bouquet of fresh flowers in three rooms in your home:  the kitchen (symbolic of nourishment of body and soul), the bedroom (your foundation and security) and the living room (the social center; connection; your role in society).   On the first day of performing this blessing, you will purchase one large bouquet (at least 9 stems, hopefully fragrant) and divide it among the three vases.  Place each vase in those three rooms (living, kitchen, bedroom) with the intention that they will absorb any negative/stagnant/sick/yucky energy.

As we place each vase, we will use a powerful "activator" called the Three Secrets Reinforcements.

*Disclaimer: Stick with me, as this part may seem a little "woo woo" or "out there" to some...but this is where the real power comes into play.

The Three Secrets are Body, Speech and Mind.  Body=any mudra (symbolic hand gesture); Speech=prayer, mantra, spoken wish; Mind= visualization of your desired outcome.  The "Body" can simply be prayer position or the "ousting mudra" or The Heart Calming Mudra (Feng Shui mudras)..whatever resonates with your belief system.  The "Speech" portion can be the Lord's Prayer, a Feng Shui mantra (OM MA NE PAD ME HUM) or just your wishes.  Finally, the "Mind" simply means that you are imagining/visualizing that you have achieved your desired outcome with this blessing.

After three days you will dispose of the first round of flowers, buy a new bouquet (try to buy different flower types) and distribute it among the three vases in the same three rooms.  Utilize the 3 Secrets again to ensure that the flowers are absorbing all negative/stale/tired energy in the home.

After 3 more days you will repeat the ritual for the third and final round (remember to get rid of the previous bouquets and start fresh).

At the end of this 9 day cycle of performing the Fragrant Flower Blessing, your home should feel light, vibrant and bright with possibilities!

It's Flower Time!

As a Feng Shui consultant, I regularly buy fresh flowers to lift the energy and beautify our home.  I don't have many expensive habits, besides my daily Starbucks chai and my weekly flower addiction.

Shortly after we moved to the neighborhood, I stumbled upon the most amazing flower boutique.  You know the kind of flower shop/boutique/neighborhood spot where you can always find the perfect gift?  The shop that knows your favorite color, favorite flower and reminds your husband that your birthday is coming up?  No?  I feel incredibly lucky to have found this spot, Moss Pink Flora.

The owner, Jill Schlisner is seriously adorable (always smiling, kind and dressed in an outfit that I wish I could steal)!  Since I have become a weekly flower hound, I've connected with Jill and her fabulous staff, Melinda and Rebeka.  Over the holidays, Jill invited me to an Open House at Moss Pink to enjoy yummy nibbles and discounted flowers.  I entered a drawing to win a private Flower Arranging Class with Jill....fingers crossed, Feng Shui secrets implemented, good karma?  I WON!!

Last week we enjoyed wine, appetizers and soaked up Jill's insane wisdom and tricks of the trade:
Jill using my vases, made the art of flower arranging look "easy"!

A HUGE thank you to Jill and Moss Pink for such a fabulously fun evening!!  Tomorrow I will share an ancient Feng Shui cure called the Fragrant Flower Blessing, as well as the symbolism of flowers in Feng Shui.

TAKE FLIGHT!

According to Ellen Whitehurst, "It is tradition on this, the second day of the New Year to go visiting, gambling or to simply and generally have some FUN! This sets the precedent for the days, weeks and months to come. The idea for today is 'risk taking' which supports the Eastern New Year greeting of "May you live in interesting times." Risk-taking is believed to make life truly interesting."

I've been ruminating about success lately.  Why are some people living life to the fullest, embracing every possibility-- while others are frozen in their comfort zone?  In honor of today's tradition to stretch my wings and inch my way out of my own comfort zone, I made a list of 9 innovative ideas for my business.  It is hard for your dreams to take flight, when they're parked on the tarmack!

Part of my problem has been the notion of "waiting for the perfect time".  After meditating on that for a while today, thinking about the balance between being a loving wife, a busy mama and a Feng Shui consultant....I stumbled on this reminder:

(source:  Pinterest)

What can you do to shake things up (in a good way!)?  By taking even a small risk or approaching your daily grind with a new perspective, you can turn the mundane into the magical!  A fun Feng Shui cure to try is to literally change your route.  Drive home a different way from work, try a new restaurant--outside of your neighborhood or favorite food genre.  Write a handwritten letter instead of hitting send on that e-mail to your friend/family/colleague.  All of these little changes mix up our brain neurons and force us to shift gears!  Happy exploring. ;)

GONG HAY FAT CHOY!

Happy Chinese New Year (Gong Hay Fat Choy!).  Today marks the first day of a two week celebration to invite the energy of the Water Dragon. This year we  are welcoming the magical, mystical, uber-powerful Dragon.  Many are grateful for the new beginnings associated with the charming Dragon.  The Water Dragon is associated with the Wood element and his essence element (Wood) will be nourished and fed by the Water of this year.  The Dragon loves to be near water (even inside of your tabletop fountain, if you've purchased a statue for the year's symbol).  It is best to keep the dragon at eye level or below...you don't want to be symbolically staring into the fiery eyes of an angry Dragon!  We want the Dragon energy to be supportive of each of us...we want him doing battle on our behalf, edging our goals closer to realization.
(my newly purchased Dragon for 2012)

I know many people have felt an energy of lack or struggle, of trudging uphill and feeling worn out.  Fortunately, the Water Dragon brings great gifts to 2012:  positive transformation, innovative ideas, increased wealth and opportunities, the ability to connect socially (social media will be even bigger this year), the will to manifest our long held desires.  Be especially careful with your thoughts this year.  The Dragon amplifies the power of connection, coincidences and synchronicities.
Some simple tips to harness the energy of the Dragon:
-buy a new welcome mat to symbolically "roll out the red carpet" & welcome a fresh start
-buy 3 or 9 new healthy, green plants (Wood element) to add health and vitality to your home
-look at your front door/entry with objective eyes- remove anything broken, cracked, dirty, unused or unloved.  Clean like the Queen is coming.  Wash the door and handles. Make sure the doorbell works.
-replace any burnt out light bulbs (inside or out).  Burnt light bulbs relate to adrenal fatigue, overwhelm, poor decisions and an inability to see the brighter side of life.
-perform a good deed or unexpected kindness.
-buy a new purse or wallet-- red is especially powerful for women
-pay down or pay off a debt to intentionally move towards financial freedom
-connect with an old friend or anyone who you may have lost touch with, but think fondly of
-wear green (Wood element) if you are a woman; blue dress shirts are great for men (Water).

-the Dragon loves children (think Puff the Magic Dragon).  Today I handed out 27 red envelopes and some sweet treats to my son's kindergarten class:

The five and six year old kids were brimming with smiles and curiosity as they came to me and tried to say, "Gong Hay Fat Choy" before I gave them their little gifts.  If you can remember to be playful, be inquisitive and take baby steps in the direction of  your dreams, the Water Dragon is ready to help you SOAR to new heights!!!

The Three Immortals

I have been practicing Feng Shui for over 15 years and I have spent many of these years dispelling the myth that Feng Shui is a religion or a cult.  Another common myth is that in order to have "good Feng Shui" one must display countless Chinese tchotckes or have a waving Lucky Cat in their home or business.

I recently had to reevaluate my own perceptions about the myth and lore and symbolism inherent in Feng Shui.  Feng Shui is ancient and powerful.  I love the symbolism and meaning behind so much of the practice.

I take care of my elderly Uncle Tom, one of my very favorite people in the entire world.  He is witty and deep.  He has wisdom and life lessons beyond my wildest dreams.  He served in the military and traveled the world for over 20 years, gathering countless memories along the way.  Even though he has mild dementia, he recalls the stories of his past in great detail.  One day recently, while at his house I asked him about some of the carved wooden figures that he gathered on his trips to Singapore, the Phillipines, Hong Kong.  I was drawn to these three smaller carvings.  I recognized some of the symbolism, but wanted to know more.

(image of my new carved gifts)

Tom said that every Asian business, political official or person of importance always displayed the "Three Immortals" in their office or a prominent place in their home.  He offered them to me, saying he knew with my love of Feng Shui and energy, I would appreciate them.
After doing a little research, I found out that these little fellas are totems of Abundance and blessings on every level.  Their names (don't laugh!!) are Fuk Luk Sau or Fu Lu Shou.  Fuk typically holds either a scroll or a child and he represents Good Descendant Luck.  Luk holds either a gold ingot or a scepter and he represents Prosperity.  Sau (Shou) holds either a staff, a peach or a Wu Lou (health gourd) and he symbolizes longevity and a happy/healthy life.  Grouped together, the Three Immortals symbolize wealth, happiness and longevity.  Who could ask for anything more?

Ofcourse, now I am noticing carved wooden totems on design blogs:

(source: Pinterest)
I'm not sure if I'll be painting my newest symbolic gift, but I do know that I am grateful for the auspicious blessings and the wisdom they promise to bring into our home!

What symbols are on display in your home that add positive energy, evoke good memories or just make you smile?

HGTV Green Home Decor Sale...SERIOUSLY?!

Was it good Karma?  My luckiest day of 2012?  I still have no idea how I managed to stumble upon the fabulous (somehow unpublicized??) details of an "Estate Sale" on Craigslist.  But it wasn't your average Estate Sale....no cobwebs, tchotchkes or musty smells anywhere.  It was a preview sale of ALL of the 2011 HGTV Green Home furnishings.  What??!!!  I almost fainted with excitement as I browsed the photos last night that were posted on Craigslist.  The proceeds from the HGTV sale are being directly donated to Rebuilding Denver, a local charity that offers free home services (repairs, maintenance, paint, heat, plumbing, etc.) to elderly, disabled, low income, Veterans and other needy families.

I could barely sleep as I imagined myself being the first in line to get the graphic chair that I couldn't stop obsessing over.  Can you spot it below? ;)

I first spotted this sassy chair at the actual HGTV Green Home, which was ironically built and featured in my neighborhood (we live in the green community of Stapleton, a former airport) in 2011.

 (Source: HGTV.com)

Ofcourse, when you walk into a warehouse of stunning, top of the line home decor items...you don't walk away with one chair!  Unfortunately, in my mad frenzy to snatch up amazing deals, I only snapped this photo with my phone of the wares:

I'll share more of my loot tomorrow...but here, without further adieu is my coveted, funky, graphic chair that came to its new home today:

I tend to buy furniture based on a "love it, have to have it" vibe and also because it's too comfy to pass up.  What I didn't realize until I got home, was that this chair is a custom Charles Stewart Heavenly chair.  It's totally green and eco-conscious (great Feng Shui!), comfortable, fun and....retails for $775 with this fabric choice!!!!!  I bought it for $230 (did I mention it helps a great charity and is also tax-deductible?).  I also had to have the custom Alexandra Ferguson "Let's Be Friends" pillow (retails for $99, purchased for $20).  Isn't it fun??!!

OK, enough gloating.  I'll share some of the other finds tomorrow.

Peace & Good Karma,
T

Happy New Year!!

Just popping in for a moment to remind you to expect MIRACLES in 2012!!
